The Lord Mayor of Bristol's Children Appeal is made up of a group of dedicated committee members who meet regularly to vote, discuss and organise fundraising events throughout the year.
MEET OUR COMMITTEE
Bruce Simmonds joined the Appeal Committee in 1974 and was appointed as Honorary Treasurer shortly after which he has held for 43 years.
Bruce has been the Chairman for the appeal for over 40 years with his strong commitment being driven by his stand for happy and cared for children.
"I realise how lucky and privileged I was in my childhood and, similarly, how our 2 boys have been.
To help disadvantaged children is very natural to me and long may this continue.
I get huge satisfaction in all the aspects of the appeal, including - amongst many things- the settling of the invoices which are sent to me for the encashment of the vouchers! This means that those for whom we wish to support have received the food, the clothes and/or the toys in time to make their Christmas so much better and happier than it would have been without us."
In the period in which Bruce has been involved in the charity, he has been responsible for the raising of, and in excess of, £2.5million and was awarded the Lord Mayor of Bristol Medal in 2017.
