Bristol based legal firms, Ashfords and DAC Beachcroft join headline sponsor, commercial property consultants Burston Cook, and supporters including Barclays Bank and Moon Consulting.

This is the fourth year of sponsorship for Ashfords.  Chris Dyson, Partner and Head of Ashfords' Bristol office, said: "Supporting the communities in which we are based is incredibly important to Ashfords.  We have seen from our involvement over a number of years just how much difference the Lord Mayor's Charity Gift Gala makes to disadvantaged families in Bristol, so we are proud to once again be supporting this great initiative."

Nick Knapman, Location Head at DAC Beachcroft's Bristol office, said: "Our office in Portwall Place has for a number of years been one of the main donation points in the city for the Lord Mayor's Christmas Appeal and we have always been very proud to work closely with its Chair Bruce Simmonds to support it. We look forward to an excellent evening at the Gift Gala in May."

Bruce Simmonds, said: “We are delighted business leaders are again coming out in force to support our charity. This gala dinner is crucial to our fundraising efforts and we couldn’t do it without their backing.  We thank them wholeheartedly.”

Commercial property surveyor Burston Cook has been announced as the headline sponsor of this year’s Lord Mayor of Bristol Gift Gala.

The city's business community have traditionally been strong supporters of the event.   Burston Cook was also a sponsor last year, alongside others including Ashfords LLP,  Rybrook Cars and GWR.  The event is also supported by Barclays Bank through its ‘Pound for Pound’ scheme and the Bristol Post.

Director Julian Cook said: "It is an honour for me as a director of Burston Cook to help and support the Lord Mayor's Appeal.  Last year we sponsored the production of the film but this year we wanted to make a bigger statement about our support for this charity which really helps at a grassroots level.

"To think Bristol is one of the UK’s most prosperous cities, yet has the highest proportion of children in poverty, really does hit a nerve with me and therefore to have an opportunity to help is a privilege."

Lord Mayor Cllr Alexander said: “We are so grateful to all our sponsors, without whom this event wouldn’t be possible.  Their commitment to the charity is very special. "

For the first time, on Thursday 17th May, the Lord Mayor of Bristol's Gift Gala 2018 will be taking place at the prestigious City Hall!

We are extremely excited that this year's gala will be taking place at City Hall, Bristol due to the historic connection the Bristol Lord Mayors have with the venue. In the elegantly designed Conference Room, where the main event will take place you will see all the names of the mayors engraved into the walls. This, along with City Hall's grand appearance makes it a perfect choice for the Lord Mayor's main event of the year.

Thursday 17th May promises to be a night of of exquisite food, great entertainment as well as a time where Bristol's business and social community come together in support of a great cause!

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Mojo Active Muddy Madness 10k and 5k races to raise money for the Appeal.  It was very cold but blessed with sunshine. The Lord Mayor would have taken part but she had the important task of starting the race!  Santa dropped by too so it was a busy day!

"On behalf of Mojo Active we would like to say a huge thank you to The Lord Mayor of Bristol for attending our Festive Muddy Madness event on Saturday. It was a privilege and a pleasure to host her and Mark Johnson, (Director of Mojo) was incredibly impressed with her interest and enthusiasm for the event, especially on such a sunny but freezing day!"

Julie Platt, Head of Marketing

WE RAISED £4,500!

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended the BBC Radio Bristol and Bristol Post Carol Concert at Colston Hall, we raised over £4,500 towards the Appeal.  We had an amazing evening welcoming in Christmas with the Gurt Lush Choir,  Bold Brass, Bristol Cathedral Choir School Chamber Choir and Bristol Man Chorus.  Thanks too to all our volunteers who helped on the night.
